Improv Classes

This course focuses on connecting physicality with creativity to enhance your improvisation skills, boost creativity, and build confidence through dynamic, hands-on exercises.
Open to all levels of experience. -
Learn techniques for developing unique personalities, exploring physicality, and delivering compelling improv characters.
Prerequisite - Improv Essentials

This six week class focuses on a different theme each week - including Bold Scene Starts and Bold Physicality - to create stronger characters and scene work.
Prerequisite: Improv Essentials

Dive into authentic storytelling and scene work, embracing genuine moments and character dynamics. This class explores everyday scenes as well as fantastical scenes, and roots them in reality.

Play, experiment, and sharpen your improv skills with a dynamic blend of classic, reimagined, and original games.
Throughout the class, students are given improv tools specific to performance skills.
Pre-requisite: Improv Essentials

Perfect for improvisers looking to expand their skills and explore new ways to create compelling performances through the clap-in technique!
This is an introductory six-week class, designed to introduce clap-in tools and skills. This class does not culminate in a performance, but is a pre-requisite for Long Form Improv Clap-In Performance Classes.
Prerequisite - Bold Improv or Dynamic Characters

In this class, students learn the tools of creating improvised Long Form Improv stories.
Some of the skills explored in this class include creating dynamic yet sustainable characters, finding comfort in longer scenes, and playing within the “story spine.”
This class does not culminate in a performance, though the students may choose to perform as a team at The Treehouse.
Prerequisite: Dynamic Characters, Bold Improv or Grounded Improv

Explore unconventional techniques, innovative forms, and creative risks to expand your improvisational toolkit and discover new artistic possibilities.

TPS offers a variety of classes that culminate in a live performance. These classes give students the skills to help bring out their best in front of an audience.
Performance Classes include: Themed Narrative Performances, Improvised Murder Mysteries, Long Form Clap-Ins, and more.

Free to students new to TPS.

This series of drop-ins, including Disrupting Racism Through Improv and Uplifting Queer Voices, are designed to help people use the tools of improv for personal and social activism.

This drop-in dares to break the cardinal rule of improv, and encourages students to use the word “no,” both on and off the stage.
Students get to practice various ways of saying no, and explore what feels right for them.

Our various acting classes are for people looking to explore their creative side, from introductory acting techniques to advanced performance based courses.

Our Sketch Comedy Classes range from introducing the skills of character-based sketch comedy for the stage and camera.
Most sketch comedy writing classes culminate in a performance, unless otherwise noted.
